Savory Thursday Plus a Item Spotlight!

Hey, guys! CoolCat here with another post! I'm really sorry I didn't do my savory post on Tuesday. After this post I will be back to posting on Tuesday for my savory posts and Thursday for my item spotlight post. This week's savory recipe is going to be CoolCat's Famous Chili! This recipe came from my Nana and when I started to really love to cook I started to tweak it. Here's what you need to make it!

1 large bottle of Ragu Spaghetti Sauce.

4 cans of Dark Red Kidney Beans.

4 cans of Diced tomatoes. We use the Garlic basil and oregano diced tomatoes.

2 small cans of tomato paste.

1-2 packages of chili seasoning. If we use one large bottle of spaghetti sauce and a small jar we will use two packages.

Black pepper.

Garlic powder.

Onion powder.

Olive oil.

1 package of extra lean ground turkey. You can use any meat you want. We use turkey because my mom only eats chicken breast and turkey. If you are to use different meats ground beef and Italian sausage work wonderful together for a recipe like this.

1 box of crackers *optional*

1 container of sour cream *optional*

1 small block of extra sharp cheddar cheese. *optional*

1 box of garlic bread *optional*

Here's how to make it!

First you want to brown your meat. I suggest browning it in the same pot you will later use for your chili. Why? Because when you season the meat all the flavor that's in the pot will go right back to your chili.

Once you have your pot out pour in about a cap full of olive oil and turn the pot up on medium heat. When the pot is hot put in your meat. Then season it with your black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I suggest seasoning it to your personal liking. Then ground the meat up with your spatula and brown until cooked.

Then when the meat is brown and cooked pour in your spaghetti sauce, kidney beans, tomatoes, tomato paste, and chili seasoning. Then you just simmer until hot. While it simmers you can also get ready your chili fixings and cook your garlic bread. You can use other fixings to such as diced onions, or diced jalapenos!

My item spotlight for this week is going to be Ragu's Spaghetti sauce! It's a wonderful brand my family has been using for years.

Until next time, bye everyone!

Baking Monday: Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Hey hey everyone! Graciepopstar91 here! Today, I will be telling you how to make chocolate chip cookies! I always make these for a Bible study Me, and my parents go to! Their always a big hit! Heres how you make them.

3/4 Cup sugar
3/4 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Cup (two sticks) butter softened*
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Large egg
2 1/4 Cup AP (All-Purpose) flour
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon salt
Half of a bag of chocolate chips (or just eyeball it to your liking...)

Preheat oven to 375 fahrenheit.

In a large bowl or KitchenAid stand mixer, mix together your sugars, butter, vanilla extract, and egg on medium low speed.

*Helpful Tip: Soften your butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. After, "smush" your butter with your fingers to soften it more, and to see if it needs more time in the microwave.

Add to your wet ingredients (your sugars, butter, vanilla, egg mixture), your flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix together on medium low speed. The dough may seem a bit crumbly, but if you mix it long enough it will mix together into a ball. Im not sure if this tip would work with a handheld mixer. It might though?

Put parchment onto 2 large cookie sheets. With a cookie scoop, fill it up with dough and then roll the ball in your hands and put it on the cookie sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes. Let cool for about 10 minutes, then serve. Enjoy!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of times, people wonder how I make these cookies so good, and really, I've been wondering myself! But I think the secret is.... Precise measurement! With baking you have to be very precise so it will turn out good!

I hope you enjoyed this weeks recipe! Stay tuned tomorrow for CoolCat's savory recipe!

Savory Tuesday: Sausage Peppers Onions and Mushrooms with a Garlic Mayo

Hey, everyone! It's CoolCat here with another post! And today I will be sharing one of my favorite recipes! Okay, okay, they are all my favorite.. Anyways! This recipe is perfect to for a grill out! Here's what you need to make it!

One package of sweet Italian sausages. *It usually has 5 in a package*

2 Bell Peppers. You can use any color you want, green, red, yellow, or orange. We sometimes use half of all four colors.

2 Onions, sliced in rings. Think of cutting onions for onion rings without breaking them up. Only start to break them up when the heat of the pan softens them.

1 Package of mushrooms, sliced. They usually run about 8 ounces.

Sausage rolls. My trick to finding the right size is based on if I like to put lots of veggies in my sandwich. If you don't like veggies that much a small bun would work. But if you like lots of them a large, thick bun would work better.

Mayo.

Webers Garlic Herb Seasoning.

Pepper *optional*

Garlic Powder. *optional*

Onion Powder *optional*

Now here's how you make it!

First you slice up all of your veggies and set aside.

Then you take your sausage out of their packaging and put then in a frying pan on medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes. Because its pork you want it to be fully cooked.

Then you add in your veggies once the sausages have been cooking for 15 minutes. You may want to drain any grease before adding the veggies. *TIP* When we make this dish we cut off the casing of fat the sausage comes in and that helps reduce the grease.

Then once you have added in your veggies add in your pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on top of the veggies.

Then while the veggies are caramelizing its now time to get ready the mayo mixture! Here's how to make the Garlic Mayo!

This is really simple. For every large  teaspoon of mayo you use just add in 2-4 shakes of the Webers Garlic Herb mixture and stir. I know it may sound like a lot but its really tasty! *TIP* Do not try the mayo mixture by its self. You maybe wondering why not? But here's why: When you add in the garlic and herb mixture it needs heat to release the garlicky flavor. If you try it before it may not taste very good.

So then when everything is fully cooked you slice open your bun, spread on your garlic mayo, then put your veggies down first to help release the garlic flavor. then your sausage on top! And there you have it! I hope you all will enjoy using this recipe! Until next week, bye guys!

My first post for Bake and Cook Weekly!

Hey, everyone! I'm CoolCat! And I will be doing savory recipe's every Tuesday! Okay, so my first recipe is going to be a recipe that my Nana came up with 12 year's ago. So this recipe is a Garlic Sandwich! Here's what you need to make it!

One loaf of fresh not frozen garlic bread. (It's best to go to the Wal-Mart bakery for this)

Your choice of deli lunch meat. You could use chicken, turkey, ham, roast beef, anything you like! We use Cajun turkey lunch meat.

Your choice of cheese. We use either all American or Italian cheese (It's SO good!)

Sliced onions (optional)

Then your choice of toppings! We use fresh tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and mayo!

So here's how you make it!

You open up your loaf of garlic bread and layer on your lunch meat.

Then if you like onions you layer your onions on top of the lunch meat.

Then you layer your cheese on top of your onions.

Then you put it in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes or until crispy on 350.

Then as your garlic sandwich is cooking you can slice up your tomatoes, rinse your lettuce, and get your pickles ready!

Then when its finished you just pile on all your toppings and enjoy!

ALSO: You may also serve this up with chips and dip, pretzels and guacamole, or pita chips with humus!

I hope you all enjoyed and I will see you guy's in my next post!

Baking Monday: Easy Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookies!

Hey everyone! Graciepopstar91 here with todays weekly baking recipe! Today I have a gluten free peanut butter cookie recipe! Though its gluten free, it tastes amazing! Plus its super easy to make! Heres the recipe!

They look normal huh?

1 Large egg
1 Cup sugar
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1 Cup peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Combine egg, sugar, vanilla, and baking soda in a large bowl or a stand mixer on low. Mix until smooth. Add in peanut butter.

Helpful tip: Normally KitchenAid stand mixers don't incorporate all of the ingredients on the bottom of the bowl. So what I do is get a spatula and mix together the ingredients that didn't get incorporated on the bottom.

Lay parchment paper on a medium sized baking sheet. With a small ice cream scooper, scoop out the dough filling up the ice cream scoop to the top. After you get all of your little cookie dough balls on your baking sheet, get a fork and coat the fork in water and put some sugar on a plate, and dip the fork in the sugar. Criss-cross the sugar onto of all of the balls. Bake your cookies for 7 minutes. If its not done, put them back in for how ever long it may need. Let the cookies cool for about 5-10 minutes then enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed todays recipe! Stay tuned tomorrow for CoolCat's savory recipe!
